At Shoreview Orthodontics, we use a thoughtful approach designed with your comfort in mind. Whether you choose metal, clear, or ceramic, our gentle, low-force Damon braces are designed to help you create a smile you’ll be so proud to share.
Self-Ligating Metal Braces
Self-ligating metal braces are a modern, comfortable alternative to traditional metal braces. They use special technology that doesn't require elastic ties. Because they use a slide mechanism to hold the wire, your teeth can move more freely and gently. Many of our patients find them more comfortable and easier to keep clean than older styles.
Clear Braces
If you’re looking for a more discreet way to straighten your teeth, we recommend Damon clear braces. These combine gentle straightening technology with clear brackets that blend right in with your smile. They are a favorite for teens and adults who want a healthier smile without making a big "statement" with metal.
Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are very similar to traditional braces, but the brackets are made of a tooth-colored material. They work just like metal braces to guide your teeth into the right spot, but they are much less noticeable. We’d be happy to show you how they look during your free visit.
Shoreview Orthodontics Reviews
We only started the treatment for my daughter a month ago but we are already very impressed. They patiently explain the process, thoroughly answer all questions and provide comfort.
I highly recommend sure view orthodontics in Kenilworth! The front office is super friendly. The technicians and orthodontist are expert and came up with a plan to make my teeth look even better than 30 years ago! Vanessa is an expert technician who was very patient with my sensitive teeth and everybody there has a terrific personality and you can tell that they are very expert in what they are doing, very professional. Thank you so much and A+ to the practice!
I’ve never met such a kind and friendly staff. 😊I’ve been with Shoreview for about 1 1/2 years using Invisalign to fix the gaps and imperfections in this old smile. I so appreciate the attention to detail going through this process- we kept plugging along (and ordering extra trays….) until my teeth were right.Shoreview is exemplary!!!!

Your Braces Questions Answered
What foods should I avoid with braces?
We want to keep your brackets safe and your treatment on track! It’s best to avoid a few things that can pull at your wires or get stuck:
- Sticky treats: Like caramel, licorice, and gummy candies.
- Crunchy snacks: Such as popcorn, chips, and ice.
- Hard foods: Think hard pizza crusts, nuts, or pretzels.
- Chewy items: Like bagels or beef jerky.
A quick tip: You can still eat apples and corn on the cob — just slice the apples first or cut the corn off the cob. Together, we’ll make it work!
How do I brush my teeth with braces?
It takes a little extra love, but you’ll get the hang of it quickly. We recommend a quick water rinse first to loosen any food. Then, brush at a 45-degree angle along the gum line and around each bracket. We’ll show you the best way to floss around your wires during your appointment so you can keep your smile sparkling.
Do braces hurt?
It’s normal to feel a little bit of soreness or "tightness" right after you get your braces or have them adjusted, but we promise it doesn't last long. A simple saltwater rinse can really help soothe your mouth. If you’re feeling uncomfortable, over-the-counter relievers like acetaminophen or ibuprofen usually do the trick.
How long will I need to wear braces?
Every smile is unique! Most of our neighbors wear braces for 12 to 24 months. Once we get started and see how beautifully your teeth are moving, we’ll be able to give you a much better idea of your "reveal" date.
What if I need extra help with my bite?
For some of our patients with more complex needs, we use tiny, temporary tools to help move teeth more precisely. It sounds a bit technical, but these small tools are a wonderful way to get great results without needing old-fashioned headgear. Dr. Lear will let you know if these are a good fit for your journey.
How much do braces cost in Kenilworth?
The cost depends on how long your treatment lasts and which style you choose. We believe everyone deserves a healthy smile and we accept most health insurances.
