At Shoreview Orthodontics, we want your new smile to last a lifetime. Finishing your braces or Invisalign® treatment is a huge milestone, and the retention phase is the best way to keep your teeth exactly where they belong. Whether we started your journey together or you just need a replacement, we’re here to help you find the right fit.
Types of Retainers
Every smile is unique, so we offer a few different ways to keep yours in place. Together, we’ll choose the one that fits your lifestyle best.
Clear Vivera™ Retainers
These are our most popular choice. They are thin, transparent trays that look a lot like Invisalign clear aligners. Because they are virtually invisible, our adult patients love them! They are easy to wear and very convenient. Just remember to give them a quick brush whenever you take them out or put them back in.
Removable Hawley Retainers
This is the classic retainer most people recognize. It’s made of a durable acrylic piece that fits the roof of your mouth with a thin metal wire that sits across the front of your teeth. These are very effective and can last a long time with proper care.
Bonded (Fixed) Retainers
If we want a more permanent solution, we might suggest a bonded retainer. This is a small metal wire that we attach directly to the back of your teeth (usually the bottom front ones). It stays in all the time, so you never have to worry about forgetting it.
Retainers Reviews
I recently visited a clinic to replace my permanent retainers after six years of use. I was impressed by how punctual they were—the appointment started exactly on time. They also responded quickly to my individual requests, making adjustments to ensure the new retainers fit my specific needs. The staff was very friendly and professional, and there were no unexpected extra charges.Overall, it was a very positive experience, and I would happily recommend this clinic.

Your Retainer Questions Answered
Which retainer is right for me?
It depends on your unique smile! Most of our patients do great with Vivera™ retainers. However, if your teeth have a tendency to want to shift back, we might suggest a bonded retainer for extra stability. We’ll walk through all your options during your visit.
How do I clean my retainer?
Keeping your retainer clean is key to a healthy mouth. For removable retainers, just brush them gently with a toothbrush and cool water. For bonded retainers, you’ll want to use a floss threader to make sure you’re cleaning around the wire and between your teeth.
What if my bonded retainer comes loose?
Don't worry, accidents happen! If your fixed wire feels loose or breaks, just give us a call. We’ll get you in for a quick repair to make sure your teeth stay aligned.
How much do replacement retainers cost in Kenilworth?
Prices can vary depending on the type of retainer you need. Whether you are an original Shoreview Orthodontics patient or moving to the area from another office, we offer affordable replacement options to keep your smile on track.
